The X platform, owned by Elon Musk, continues to surprise users. Now, a new video-centric application, X TV, has been launched. X TV is available for download on various platforms such as Google Play, LG’s app store, and Amazon App Store… Here are the details!
X TV is currently available for Android
Available to users on Android platforms, X TV still appears as the old Twitter app on Apple TV. The release dates of the app vary from platform to platform. While Amazon stated that X TV went live in late July, this date was stated as August 29, 2024 in LG’s app store.
X TV appears to be a YouTube clone for now, but will likely feature much more controversial content and lower-quality ads. Considering X CEO Linda Yaccarino has previously said that the app will be ad-free at launch, it’s safe to say YouTube has a serious competitor.
It is known that YouTube earned $15.5 billion from advertising revenues in the first half of 2024 and a total revenue of $31.5 billion in 2023. In this sense, we can say that X TV does not pose a threat to YouTube for now, but it is not yet known how aggressive the platform will follow.
The app description on Google Play states, “The X app is a trusted global digital square for everyone, now on your TV! We bring you the world of X as a new experience and bring this unique and engaging content to your living room.”
